    hello,

i bought this book afther reading good things about the writer and the good reviews.

i, myself, think this book is written just to simple and to shallow. This book never goes into detail. Except for the measurements of things, but this is for +- 20 pages and can be found on the internet.

For exemple doors: all the things he writes down are easy to know or to find out. (a doorway provides passage from one space to the other, wel duh. then he explanes the types: you can have a flush door a panel-, french-, glass-, louvered- and sash- door. then he explanes that there exist swing doors, pocket sliding door, surface sliding, by pass sliding, bifold,… and so on. I know, I live in a building with doors and i work in them. in his simplicity he forgets even some types; turning doors, electrical doors, double swing doors,…!)

The only people who may learn something about the book will be people who don’t know if they want to do something in the design world and have never read something about it, or never read something about building. If they want to find out it is something for them, its interesting to read it . Otherwise it is a real waist of money.

The auther is fantastic, the book is well written otherwise he wouldn’t have got the 4 stars, the book covers the subject from A to Z literally speaking, a must have, BUT it is too much outdated.
